Thread: Delhi, Not at all safe for girls!

Delhi is not at all safe for girls. Last news that I have heard on the televisions is about a lady who was teased at india gate by some guys who are less than her age. It is not only happening with girls who are under age or teenage or young. But ladies who are middle aged are also facing such problems. Men are becoming and showing their evil grins and attitude every where in Delhi. They are not at all bothered about the consequences and hence do what ever they want to do with all age girls and ladies. This is a sad issue that girls are not safe in Delhi and the problem is taking heights day by day. This all happens due to the low and bad bad security reasons by the government.

Economist , you are hundred percent right! Delhi is becoming the worst place to live for girls. hief Minister of Delhi , Shiela Dixit is just doing nothing ! Delhi has lost its security for girls. They cannot move freely in Delhi at night. Some of my friends have experienced a very bad night out at place near vasant vihar disc. They were coming home around 11 pm at night after celebrating a party and there were around 8 girls and no boys. They were surrounded by some 8 to 10 Nigerians at that night who were beating the car doors, doing some vulgar actions and pointing bad indications to them when they were coming back. My friend called police helpline number "100" but no one picked up the call. This is what you talk about security? Government of Delhi should pay heed to such situations.

You have given one example but I know many more cases that happens daily in Delhi. Due to the increase in the crime and modernity among youngsters in the places of NCR also gives boost to such crimes. Girls are more into fashion than tradition. I guess the mistake is from each side but that does not mean they will be suffered like this.

@economist: I agree with the statement that girls are wearing short dresses in delhi at night which is against the indian tradition and it suits them and should wear them according to the occasion or atmosphere. Girls are more into wearing short dresses that tempt guys which is not a good thing still the security of girls are left untouched. In fact the policemen do not see such girls with respect as they consider them some pimp or CG. But tell em one thing, We all are living in a democratic country so don't we have the right to wear, speak or do whatever we want to?? If we are not safe at our own place then What is the use of such democracy then?

@sweetangel: Yes, we have all the right to wear, speak or say whatever we want but there are some restrictions that our society has constructed. delhi is not safe for girls because of the girls themselves. You cannot trust anyone in the day time then how can you expect when a girl roam around at night in all those weird dresses to be safe?

Whoa! Are you just talking about Delhi? Which place is safe for girls just tell me this? I guess there is no place around the world which is considered as the safest place for girls. So, Delhi is not an exception. It is the mentality of the people that is degrading day by day due to the westernization. This is all what I can say as of now!

@khushboo:If there is no place around the world which is safe for girls then what is the use of government who is meant to provide the security to the citizen of the country? It is true that no place is safe for girls but what is the use of government and police officials then? Just think about it!

I agree that it is the mentality of people which is the main reason to why degraded acts are taking place with girls. The people of Delhi (including men and women) are adopting the western culture. But the men are unable to acclimatize to this culture which i think is the major reason for immoral behavior towards the girls.

Until and unless people start respecting the culture and following it the way it is, they will not be able to rise above from their low mentality. there is no such place which is safe for girls but Delhi is definitely the most dangerous place for girls these days due to the rape, murder and instances of kidnapping happening these days.

For girls the world will never change. Infact for girls it is getting worse and worse. 1970s and before that era were more safer for girls. Either it is Delhi or New York situation is same. Only the difference is that in New York police take instant action and in Delhi we already have an example. But for the scenario girls are also responsible. Western culture is okay but you can't wear such clothes and can't drink and misbehave on roads which cause problems for the girls.
