Tirumala Brahmotsavam is an annual festival at Tirumala Lord Venkateswara Temple, which is celebrated for nine days in the months of September and October. This is a Hindu festival celebrated with zeal and grandeur.

History behind Brahmotsavam Festival
The Brahmotsavam festival is one of the most significant and auspicious festivals celebrated in Tirupati. There are several popular stories that give a hint of the basis of the celebration of Brahmotsavam. It is celebrated in the honour of Lord Brahma, the creator God, who first performed this festival to Sri Balaji at Tirupati. Brahma worshiped Sri Balaji on the banks of the holy Pushkarini in Tirupati as a way thank the Lord for protecting the mankind. Hence, this festival was given the name of “Brahmotsavam,” which means “Brahma’s Utsavam.”

Celebration of Brahmotsavam Festival
Brahmotsavam Festival is celebrated with grandeur and a huge swarm of devotees gather in this festival from all over the globe to witness this grand Festival. They participate in the rituals with great enthusiasm to receive blessings of Sri Venkateswara swami. The 9 days Festival is a superb experience for all tourists and devotees. The feeling of complete bliss and heavenly attachment is often termed as “Vaikunth anubhav”, which can be felt during this festival. The major activities that are held during this festival include:

Aalaya Suddhi: Before the beginning of Brahmotsavam, the temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara is cleaned and purified according to the procedures laid in the religious scriptures. The temple grounds and its surroundings are tinted with flowers and mango leaves. This process is called Aalaya Suddhi and Alankaram (decoration).

Mritsangrahanam: Mritsangrahanam (the process of collecting earth) is done a day prior to the first day of Brahmotsavam. The temple officials pray to deities in the temple namely, Vishvaksena, Anantha, Sudarshana and Garuda. They also pray to Mother Earth and accumulate a little amount of earth with which the Ankurarpanam ritual is conducted, the earth is spread in a room and nine kinds of cereals are sown over it.

Dwajarohanam and Devatavanam: Dwajarohanam (hoisting the flag or garudadhwaja) signifies the begining of the Brahmotsavam. It is carried out at the Dwajasthambham, near the Nadimi Padi Kavili inside the temple complex. The temple officials hoist the flag (with a picture of Garuda on it), followed by chanting of Vedic mantras by the temple priests. It is believed that Garuda goes to Devalokam to invite the deities, which include Brahma, Indra, Yama, Agni, Kubera and Vayudeva and sages such as Vasistha and Vishwamitra.

Vahana Seva: The Lord Balaji is taken out in a procession around the streets of Tirumala on different vahanas (vehicles). Each vahana has its own implication, and conveys the message of Lord Balaji in its own way.

Srivari Koluvu: During Brahmotsavam, the Lord holds court in the main temple, after being taken around in a procession. The temple priests perform Naivedyam during this time.

Snapanam: Snapanam, which is also called the Utsavananthara Snapanam is the process of bathing the Lord with herbal water after the procession. It is believed to mitigate the strain that the Lord has undergone during the procession.

Choornabhishekam: Choornabhishekam involves bathing the lord and his spouses after smearing them with sandalwood powder. This is done in the morning of the ninth day of the Brahmotsavam. The Lord is then taken out in a procession around the streets of Tirumala. The temple priests distribute the sandalwood powder used for the Lord to devotees as it is believed that the sandalwood powder has the power of clearing impediments from one's conduit.

Chakrasnanam: The Chakrasnanam is a ritual similar to the bathing ritual after the performance of a yagna. On the morning of the last day of Brahmotsavam, the Lord, his spouses and Sri Sudarshanachakram are bathed in the Swami Pushkarini. Devotees can also bathe in the Swami Pushkarini, along with Sri Sudarshanachakram. It is considered to be one of the most sacred rituals of this auspicious festival, and devotees participate in this ritual, irrespective of religion, caste or creed.

Devatodwasanam: On the last day of Brahmotsavam, the ritual of biding goodbye to the Sages and Gods to Devalokam is called Devatodwasanam. It is performed after the daily archana. Lord Brahma is honoured for organising the festival by the temple priests and officials.

Dwajavarohanam: Dwajavarohanam signifies lowering of the flag that is hoisted on the first day of Brahmotsavam. It is carried out on the evening of the last day of Brahmotsavam.

I would nurture you till my last try, I promise yes! I do I would never let you cry,
No matter how long we need to wait, life blesses us sometimes very late,
But this is a reality of life which we should not ever hate!”

“We would try until we succeed, would witness the struggle together and bear the heat,
Tears would accompany us, but cannot make us weak,
All they would do is; make us strong and help us to reach the peak!
Those who are laughing at us today, would bow down on the knee,
Tomorrow they would be among those who would praise us truly actually!”

“Oh! My DREAM all I can assure you is my love for you would never be less,
I would be determined for you and never be a part of any clash,
I know the way is not so easy, and it’s also not so cheesy,
It takes courage to walk over the roller-coaster of life,
Sudden obstacles just tear your power with their sharp knife,
But my DREAM I promise yes! I do, I WOULD STILL SURVIVE, WE WOULD SURVIVE!”

Go my son and don’t look back....
I have your sweet memories to cherish, that can never fade,
I had no intentions to make you harsh,
but I have to do this for the sake of the blood ,That runs in your heart,
I had promised him to push you, on the same road, to guide you and to make you a Man!

How can I be so selfish to hold you back and not let you grow,
This is the time to flow with the change and to show!
I can never forget those sleepless nights where my heart was full of hopes but life was dried,
Each day I shoved my fears and transcended them, showed you a smile but internally I truly cried.

This is the time to wash away all those fears once for all,
Listen my son, here is for you the call.....
The mother of all; is calling you, whose voice must not be ignored
I know well; you will raise the flag of victory this much is assured.
I lost the Hero of my life but could not longer be sad,
I could nurture his thoughts and planted the seed of his dream in you
That’s what makes me rather glad....

I can see the fruits of wisdom and courage on this tree now
This is the time to go on my son, now don’t ask me why and how.
Time will prove you and me, that we chose the right path
It was indeed right to fulfil someone’s dreams and to make a start.
My blessings would embrace you and cuddle, when you would be tired
They will reach to you for sure when the enemy of the motherland would be fired.

You have the fire in you, you have the power
And when you prove your blood is not white, cosmic blessings would be showered
Go, my son! My ears are thirsty to listen and eyes are hungry to see your victory
Go to the field and like your father create another history.

I will wait for your triumph before I leave this world,
I will stand on the doors till you arrive with laurels,
Days will be alone without you, I might need to spend my life only with the thought of you,
I will say my life was a worth spent, nevertheless with many bents
I wish I could express how much I love you but the duty towards your motherland
Is far above Me and You.

Dev Uthani Ekadashi also known as Prabodhani Ekadashi is celebrated on the 11th day of Shukla Paksha in Kartik month of the Hindu Lunar calendar. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and starts with auspicious ceremonies as marriage.

About Dev Uthani Ekadashi
Dev Uthani Ekadashi is celebrated on the eleventh day after the celebration of Diwali, which is emblematic of Lord Vishnu getting up after a long sleep of four months. The day is celebrated with fervour and marks the beginning of all the auspicious ceremonies like marriages. As per Hindu mythology it is believed that King Bali grew almost equivalent to Indra in powers and so Lord Vishnu, the savoir of the earth camouflaged himself as a dwarf priest (VAMAN) and went to up to him to get alms. The king agreed to give whatever the priest could measure in three steps and then the lord with his magnificent from measured Mrityu-lok; the world in one step, Swarag-lok; the world above in the second step and there remained no place to keep his third step so the king offered him his head and he was moved to Patal-lok; the underworld by the foot of Vishnu. Nonetheless, Lord Vishnu promised to be his gatekeeper for four months every year as he was a great devotee and for that reason sought the blessings of the god in this form. So, it is believed that for these four months Lord Vishnu leaves his seat at Sheer Sagar and goes to the underworld and hence all auspicious activities are postponed during these four months. The Prabodhani Ekadashi or Dev Uthani Ekadashi is marked by fasting. This fasting also has scientific significance. According to science, Chaturmas is a period of negative state of mind as it is believed that resting of Lord Vishnu that starts on Devshayani Ekadashi means begining of negative state of mind and dearth or diminution in positive thoughts. Fasting is carried out to deal with and rule the mayhem of mind which happens usually on the day of full moon day before Ekadashi.

Celebration of Dev Uthani Ekadashi
Dev Uthani Ekadashi is an auspicious festival of the Hindus and it is marked as the beginning of every auspicious occasion. In the evening 11 diyas are lighted to welcome Lord Vishnu to the world after a long siesta. This festival is celebrated with great zeal and fervour as it marks the beginning of all good work after a break of four months. The day is marked with the beginning of marriage season among Hindus and on this day the Tulsi Vivah is performed, wherein the Tulsi plant is symbolicically married (The auspicious medicinal plant) with Saligram (A Form of Lord Vishnu). The place is tinted with rangoli, flowers and a new cloth is put on the plant and after aarti all pray for the health and well being of family and friends.

It has taken several measures to cut down the payment to civil servants, cut down the pension, hike the taxes and has also contemplated over to lay off several civil employees to deal with the pressure of lenders which greece is facing at the moment. The prime minster of Greece Antonis Samars has also shut down Greece's public broadcasting, accusing it of lack of transparency. I think the government of Greece needs to change and build a stronger fiscal policy to take on the burden of debts. What do you say?

Recently many of the players have been booked under the case of spot fixing. To name a few are Sreesanth, Chavan, and Chandila. I believe that people now will not view IPL matches so seriously as they had earlier since many players have come under the radar of spot fixing, and this ruins the spirit of the game altogether. The cricket board should levy heavy punishment on such players as the game, our country and the good players lose their credibility. What's your take on this?

This yearly ten day chariot festival is commenced during the month of November and is one of the most significant festivals of Kerala. The celebration of this chariot festival started about 700 years ago. According to mythology, this temple was built with the initiation of a Brahmin woman named Lakshmiammal. She was a Brahmin widow, who visited Kasi and brought back a very special Lingam with her. She wanted to establish this Lingam in a temple constructed on the banks of Neela Nadi (Kalpathi River). She approached the King of Palakkad with her request and he readily agreed to it. The temple was constructed and the deities were established as per Vedic rituals. The King gifted the land that surrounds the temple for its preservation, which was honored by successive rulers up to Tipu Sultan and even by the British.

Jhiri Mela is a fair, which is celebrated annually to honour a farmer named Baba Jitu. This fair is celebrated every year during Kartik Purnima, which falls in the last week of October and early November.

History related to Jhiri Mela
Jhiri is a village that is situated 20 kms from Jammu, on the Jammu-Akhnoor highway. A farmer named Baba Jitu lived in this village some 500 years ago. During this age, the feudal lords known as Zamindars tortured the farmers and demanded a major share of the wheat crop from them. Owing to the constant oppression of the Feudal lords, this honest farmer preferred sacrificing his life instead to giving in to the demands of the Zamindars. They demanded a major share of the wheat crop from Jit, who was a poor farmer. Since the peasant had slogged hard to cultivate the crop, he did not want to succumb to the unjust demand. Rather than parting with his crop, he preferred to take the extreme step of ending his life over the stack of wheat. He has ever since been honoured as Baba Jittoo and is sacred for standing up against the injustice and unfair action meted out to the peasants during the feudal times.

Celebration of Jhiri Mela
Every year, the fair is held to pay homage to the father and her seven year old daughter Bua Kouri who set herself on fire with her father Baba Jitu. A temple has been built at the place of martyrdom of Jit and his daughter to honour their sacrifices. The villagers and their descendants attend the annual fair to be remorseful for chipping in the blood strained grains and for not coming forward to support him. This Fair is held to honour the courage of a farmer, his sacrifice for the emancipation of the farming community. This fair commemorates honesty, incorruptibility, meekness and stands for valour, traditions and candour. Lakhs of tourists from all over the World gather during the Jhiri Mela to pay tribute to the Samadhi of this legendary farmer.

In addition to being a religious affair, the mela also grants marketing outlet to the local sugarcane growers. As the area is famous for sugarcane crop, most visitors to the fair comes here to purchase sugarcane. During the fair, exhibitions are organized that provide assorted variety of articles ranging from pottery, vases, utensils and toys to books on Baba Jitu. For the people coming from all over India, one important ritual during the Jhiri Mela is to take a holy dip in Babe- da- Talab' which is known to have therapeutic powers to cure skin diseases. Jhiri Mela is celebrated for seven days with great zest and fervour. This is one of the most important and major festival celebrated in Jammu.

Political parties will soon be under the radar of RTI Act and parties will have to disclose information like where do they get their funds from, how do they spend those funds and on what basis they hire the candidates for the party. However there is a slack given to the parties that if the fund is less than 20,000 INR they are not under obligation to share their information. I think this is a great move and upon its successful implementation, corruption within the political parties would come down. Or wouldn't it? Share your views!

China is currently the largest buyer of Oil from Iraq. It buys daily 1.5 million barrels of oil which is almost half the output of Iraq. Reason? China is able to compromise on its profits and is bidding lower prices. Moreover it is readily conforming to the Iraqi laws. So without any hassles, Iraq is able to sell oil to Chinese companies which have set up their bases in Iraq. US on the other hand is unable to reap any benefits despite its long presence in the Iraqi land. Any critiques?

Samsung GALAXY S4 Vs Blackberry Z10 Vs Apple iPhone 5

The advent of Smartphone has revolutionized the whole concept of mobile phones. Today, the mobile phone market is overflowed with Smartphones from different companies and is available at a much lesser price as compared to the earlier times. Blackberry was one of the pioneers to introduce Smartphones. However, today there are companies like Samsung and Apple that tops the list as the manufacturers of Smartphones.

Samsung has come up with Galaxy S4 recently to give a tough competition to Apple that launched iPhone 5 last year and Blackberry is no longer behind. It has launched its new Z10. All the three Smartphones comes loaded with features but has their own share of merits and demerits and comparing the three is not worth but if you take a look on all the three, each of them has areas that are advantageous over other.

Design
BlackBerry Z 10, Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in a beautiful design. Apple’s iPhone 5 comes in a sleek, compact and elegant design. The design looks classy as well as chic. Although, Z10 from BlackBerry has a similar design as iPhone 5 but has failed to meet the quality that iPhone 5 has. Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is little bulky and with its plastic shell and does not look as expensive as it should have. But, the glossy and smooth plastic casing that has rounded edges makes it easy to hold, which adds to its design but even S4 cannot compete with iPhone 5 in terms of its looks and design.

Display
Coming to display, Galaxy S4 has a 5 inch Full HD AMOLDED display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. This Smartphone with 5 inch display makes watching videos and playing 3D games an amazing experience. Z10 has 4.2-inch 768 x 1280 LCD display delivers the higher pixel density of 356 ppi. iPhone 5 screen size of 4 inch with a resolution of 1136x640 pixels with LCD Retina Display. Although, it delivers a natural and clear picture quality, Galaxy S4 has a better display with magnificent contrast and saturated colours. The viewing angles of iPhone 5 seem to be better than S4 and Z10 but both Z10 and iPhone 5 can be viewed in the dark. Nevertheless, Z10 cannot match the clarity offered by iPhone 5.

Interface and Functionality
When it comes to interface and functionality, it becomes a little hard to compare the three as each of them is built in different platforms. The operating system of Z10 is quite similar to iPhone 5 and is powered by BB10 OS.The operating system of S4 is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and iPhone 5 runs on the latest iOS 6. S4 has Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature interface, which customizes the entire experience and adds numerous distinctive features like Smart Stay, Dual Shot, Air View and lots more of which some of them are useful and others are not. Android, as we all know is feature rich and works seamlessly. Similarly, BB10 also provides a good interface with various transition as well as animation. Whereas, Apple iOS is easy to use and has a more user-friendly interface but the keyboard of Z10 seems to be better than the both. Moreover, organizing emails on BlackBerry Z10 is much easier than the other two as it is considered to be one of the best Business phones in the market.

Processor and Memory
Coming to processor, Galaxy S4 is powered by either quad-core 1.9 GHz Snapdragon 600 chipset, or the octa-core 1.6 GHz Exynos 5 Octa chipset, where both the processors are quite powerful and is capable of running more specs and features. The RAM of this phone is 2 GB, which is amazing and allows the phone to work smoothly. Z10 is powered by dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset with 2GB of RAM. While, iPhone 5 is not loaded with as much features and specs as S4 and is powered by dual-core 1.3 GHz A6 processor with 1 GB RAM. Both S4 and iPhone 5 comes in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB internal memory, respectively but Z10 comes with just 16 GB internal storage. However, the internal memory of S4 and Z10 can be increased via micro SD card, and iPhone 5 lacks on this.

Internet and Connectivity
Smartphones are popular for making internet accessible through phones. Both Samsung GALAXY S4 and Apple iPhone 5 supports 4 G LTE network along with HSPA+ with downlink speeds of up to 42.2 Mbit/s down. Whereas Z10 supports 4 G LTE and are available in CDMA and GSM versions that supports this network. All the three phones support Bluetooth 4.0, and Z10 has 5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi for connectivity. S4 has an IR blaster, which allows the handset to be used as a remote control for your television and Z10 comes with NFC, that gives it a up to date stroke.

Camera and Multimedia
Camera has been a major attracting feature of phone today and both the phones offer amazing camera. The S4 sports a 13 MP camera on the rear and a 2 MP camera on the front, whereas iPhone 5 and Z10, both has an 8 MP camera on the rear. Each of the phones has amazing features that makes. However, the camera of S4 rules over both Z10 and iPhone 5. In terms of Multimedia, iPhone 5 from Apple outstands both the phones from Samsung and BlackBerry, respectively.

Verdict
Although, the rest of the features cannot be compared as each of them has their own advantages. In my opinion, if you are looking for a good business phone, then BlackBerry Z10 is the ideal one to meet all your needs. If you are tech-savvy, then Samsung GALAXY S4 suits you the best. However, going by looks, user-friendliness and other features, Apple iPhone 5 is matchless.

Which of these Smartphones according to you is the best one?

Somavati Amavasya is a Hindu festival that is celebrated on the new moon day or no moon day, which falls on Monday. Amavasya is the day of the conjunction of the sun and the moon, the fifteenth day of the dark half of a lunar month. Although, Amavasya takes place every month but it is considered to be auspicious when it falls on a Monday and it is rare, which falls once a year.

Significance of Somavati Amavasya
Somvati Amavasya is an auspicious day and it finds its mention in the great Indian epic Mahabharat. The significance of Somvati Amavasya was elucidated by Bhisma to Yudhishtra. After the Kurukshetra war, Yudhistira was fretful with the Kuru pandava dynasty and asked Bhishma to advice something to invigorate the dynasty for his coming generations. Bhishma then suggested Dharmaraj Yudhistira to observe Somvati Amavasya Vrata. He also explained him the virtues of this vrata as whoever observes the Amavasya Somvara Vrata would have a long life as well as righteous children. Amavasya, or Amavasi, is the name of new moon night in Hindu religion and it is the first night of the first quarter of the lunar month. As the moon is invisible on this day, Amavasya is also referred as no moon night. Amavasya holds great significance in Hinduism and many Hindus choose this day to make offering (tharpanam) to the Pitar. Emblematically, the period from Amavasya to Purnima (full moon) is believed to be the continuing initiation and transcendence into the completeness, from darkness to the continuing realization of the Supreme Soul.

With Smartphones creating buzz in the market, Micromax launches its new A115 3D Smartphone of the Canvas series. Although, LG and HTC have tried their hands on 3D phone, they could not succeed owing to the high price and lack of features. The Micromax A115 Canvas 3D comes with an attractive price tag of Rs. 9,999/-, loaded with advance features.

Design
The A115 Canvas 3D from Micromax is quite bulky as compared to the other Canvas series phones. This handset has a similar design as A110 Canvas 2. It is 11mm thick and weighs 188gm, which makes this phone a little heavy to carry as well as quite thick that makes it pretty uncomfortable to hold. However, the matt finish at the back with a chrome logo, makes this phone presentable. It comes with a 5 inch TFT display with Naked Eye 3D technology with resolution of 480 x 800 (188ppi) pixels, which is quite less as compared to the huge screen. The sharpness of the display is not good as the screen resolution is relatively low as it should have been in a 5 inch display.

Features
The Canvas 3D is powered by a MediaTek MT6577 SoC, the same chipset that is used in the Canvas 2 A110 and runs on a 1GHz processor. The operating system used in this 3D Smartphone is the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which runs smoothly as well as fast and has a 512MB RAM. The onboard internal storage of this phone is 4GB, which is relatively less as the actually usage memory is merely 930MB. Coming to the actually USP of this phone, i.e. the 3D, Micromax has installed an exquisite gallery app, named 3D Space which lets you access photos, games, YouTube and videos in 3D. Indigenous 3D content looks fine but the sweet-spot for viewing it properly without sullying your eyesight is very limited and thus two people cannot watch a 3D video together with ease. Moreover, the screen also darkens relatively as soon as the parallax barrier boots in to produce the 3D effect. Contrasting active shutter glasses, where both eyes see a complete frame, on this phone one eye sees half the horizontal pixel count, which cause trouncing in detail. The chipset can easily handle a 3D 1080p movie though with very minor stutter, the video plays just okay. There also an option for converting existing images to 3D and the depth can as well be adjusted. However, the display is incapable of producing a crisp 3D image owing to the low pixel count and this is a drawback of the phone as it is the USP of this Smartphone from Micromax.

Media
Coming to media, the audio of the phone is extremely average and it has speakers built-in in the rear. The sound quality is still not amazing, even with a good pair of earphones or headphones and it still cannot avert the outside noise. This phone can play videos smoothly up to 720p, which can play MP4 videos with ease but has problems playing videos at AVI, MKV, etc. format in MX player. The colour production as well the viewing angle is not very satisfactory even in 2D format.

Connectivity
The A115 Canvas 3D from Micromax supports dual band 2G network and single band 3G network for connectivity. This phone comes bundled with other connectivity features, which include Wi-Fi ‘n’, Bluetooth v4.0 and USB plug-and-play support. It also features apps that include Play Store, M! Store, M!Zone and File Manager, M! Buddy and HookUp along with games like TheDarkMan and Fruit Devil.

Camera and Battery
The Micromax Canvas 3D sports a 5 MP camera on the rear and a VGA camera in the front, which enables video calling. However, by having a single sensor camera, taking 3D image is little difficult. The video recording can be done with 720p, which is just fine but seeing the price tag, the camera seems to be fine if 3D images are not taken. This phone is powered by a 2000mAh battery, which lasts for 8 hrs.

Verdict
The all hyped out phone from Micromax, Canvas 3D is just a fine phone, which comes bundled with features. However, it thoroughly lacks on providing a good 3D effect, which is the USP of this phone. Nevertheless, seeing the price tag, which is just Rs.9,999, this phone can be purchased but you should not expect something amazing out of it.Incomparison its predecessors were better .

However, on the request of the other gods, Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and stayed with the gullible Vrinda. When the truth was unveiled by her after Jalandhar's death, Vrinda crused Vishnu and turned him to stone, which came to be known as Shaligram and collapsed and from her body emerged the sacred Tulsi plant.

Muharram is a sacred Muslim festival, which commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, who as the grandson of Prophet Mohammad. This is a 10 day long festival which starts on the 1st day of the month of Muharram, as per the Islamic calendar and lasts till the 10th day. This month is yet another sacred month for the Muslims.

History behind Muharram
The month of Muharram is considered to be one of the most sacred months of the Islamic calendar and is an auspicious day both the sects of Muslim i.e. Shias and Sunnis. The Shia muslims believe that Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, became a martyr at the Battle of Karbala on the tenth day of the month of Muharram in 61 AH(680 AD). On the occassion of Muharram that day is remembered. It is predominantly significant to the Shias and till date their veneration of Martyrdom centres on this incident. Husayn had to wrestle, for integrity, albeit he was shoddily outnumbered. His death is as well mourned by the Sunni sect. This day is also referred as the day of Ashura. It is believed that when Hussain was injured and haemorrhage, with his all potency he reached the riverside to drink water for the last time and on the riverside his enemy killed him with their arrows.

Rituals observed on Muharram
On the occasion of Muharram, people dress in black clothes to mourn the death of their Caliph Husayn ibn Ali. People visit mosques and shrines with their relatives and friends and offer their condolences to the martyr. People keep themselves away from music and festive events, such as weddings, that are likely to divert them from the mournful commemoration of the event. On the 10th day, Shia Muslims take out huge processions through the streets carrying banners and vibrantly decorated taziyahs (bamboo and paper replicas of the martyrs) embroidered with painted gold and mica. They even carry colorful models of the sepulcher of Hazrat Imam Husain at Karbala. They walk barefoot on the roads, while beating drums. They chant and weep loudly as an act of mourning for Husain, his family and his followers. To convey their woe over the death of Hazrat Imam Husain, they beat their chest with hands, known as matam. Others flagellate their bodies with chains or whips, consisting of small knives and sharp objects, thereby drawing out blood. Wrestlers and dancers even perform scenes that depict the battle of Karbala. The Sunni Muslims observe the occasion as a festival even if the core aspect behind the festival remains intact. They observe fasts and remember the occasion as a low affair.

It is beleieved that this puja was performed by Draupadi, the wife of "Pandavas" king during their exile. One day they were visited by 88 thousand 'Bhikshuk' (wandering hermits) and as per Hindu customs, the guests are supposed to be treated well and offered food, but the Pandavas hardly had sufficient food for themselves. Seeing the Pandavas in trouble, Draupadi asked help from the noble sage Dhaumya, who was pleased with her devotion of worshiping the Sun God and Draupadi was able to solve their immediate problem.

Bhai Dooj is a Hindu festival that is celebrated on the last day of the five day long Diwali festival. This festival is celebrated on the second day of the bright fortnight known as Shukla Paksha which falls in the month of Kartika of the Hindu Lunar calendar. This festival is celebrated to mark the bond between bother and sister.

Myths and Traditions related to Bhai Dooj
The festival of Bhai Dooj is also known as Bhai Phota, Bhai Tika and Bhau Beej in different parts of the nation. Bhai Dooj is also called 'Yama Dwiteeya' as it is said that on this day, Yamaraj, the Lord of Death and the curator of Hell, visited his sister Yami, who had put the propitious mark on his forehead and prayed for his well being. Since then, it is believed that anyone who gets a tilak from his sister on this day will not go to hell. It is also believed that on this day, Lord Krishna, after killing the demon Narakasura, visited his sister Subhadra who welcomed him with lamp, flowers and sweets, and had put the holy shielding spot on his forehead. There is another mythological account behind this auspicious festival, which states that when Mahavir, the founder of Jainism, attained nirvana, his brother King Nandivardhan was distraught as he missed him and was reassured by his sister Sudarshana. Since then, women have been considered sacred during Bhai Dooj.

Significance of Bhai Dooj
The festival of Bhai Dooj strengthens the ties not only between brother and sister but also the ties between families and society. It is one of the best times, particularly for a married girl, to get together with her own family, and share post-Diwali merriment. It is one of the most auspicious festivals that is celebrated by the Hindus since ancient times and is celebrated all over the World with great zest and zeal.

Celebration of Bhai Dooj
On this auspicious day the all brothers visit their sisters and give them gifts and sisters pray for their brothers' long life, good health and general well-being. In Bengal this occasion is called 'Bhai Phota', which is carried out by the sister who devotedly fasts until she applies a 'phota' or mark with sandal wood paste on her brother's forehead, offers him sweets and gifts and prays for his long and healthy life. Every brother enthusiastically waits for this occasion that strengthens the bond between brothers and sisters and their loving relationship. It is an occasion for a good buffet at the sister's place, coupled with fervent exchange of gifts, and jollity amid the echoing of conch shells in every Bengali household.

Govardhan Puja is an important Hindu festival that is celebrated immediately after diwali. This festival is celebrated with zeal and fervour especially in the Northern part of India. This festival is known by the names of Annakut, Padwa and Varshapratipada.

History behind Govardhan Puja
Govardhan Puja is festival in which Lord Krishna is worshipped, commemorating the lifting of the Govardhan Mountain, well-known and Govardhan Parvat. According to the mythological account present in 'Vishnu Puraan', the people of Gokul used to worship and offer prayer to Lord Indra for the rains since they believed that it was he who sent rains for their benefit but Lord Krishna told them that it was Mount Govardhan (Govardhan Paevat) and not Lord Indra who caused rains, hence they should worship the former and not the latter. People did the same and it made Lord Indra so infuriated that the people of Gokul had to face exceptionally heavy rains as a result of his anger. Subsequently Lord Krishna came forward to ensure their security and after worshipping and offering prayers to Mount Govardhan, he lifted it as an umbrella on the little finger of his right hand so that everyone could take shelter under it. After this event Lord Krishna came to be known as Giridhari or Govardhandhari.

Celebration of Govardhan Puja
Govardhan Puja is celebrated with hue and cry in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. On this day, people make hillocks from cow dung, which symbolize the Mount Govardhan, the mountain that was once upon a time lifted by Lord Krishna. After the hillocks are made, people embellish them with flowers and then worship them. They move in a circle all round the cow dung hillocks and offer prayers to Lord Govardhan. It is celebrated on the fourth day of the five-day long Diwali celebration. On this day people prepare fifty-six or one hundred and eight different varieties of delicious dishes to offer Lord Krishna as 'Bhog'. It is also believed that on this day King Bali came out of “Patal Lok”. On this day Marathi New Year Gudi Padwa is celebrated with great enthusiasm. People take new clothes and exchange gifts and sweets on this occasion.

The Smartphone market is today flooded with new phones with advanced technology and owing to this reason, the competition among the companies...

The Smartphone market is today flooded with new phones with advanced technology and owing to this reason, the competition among the companies manufacturing Smartphones are increasing. Both Samsung and Apple have been rivals since quite sometime and both the companies have come up with two great phones one after the other.

Apple has launched iPhone 5 last year and Samsung has come up with Galaxy S4 recently to give a tough competition to Apple. Both the Smartphones are amazing and has their own pros and cons and comparing both does not make much of a sense but obviously, if you take a closer gaze both has areas that are advantageous over the other.

Design
Both Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in a beautiful design. Apple’s iPhone 5 comes in a sleek, compact and elegant design. The design looks classy as well as chic. Whereas, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is little bulky and with its plastic shell, it does not look as costly as the price tag. However, the glossy and smooth plastic casing that has rounded edges makes it easy to hold.

Display
Both the phones have an amazing display. Galaxy S4 has a 5 inch Full HD AMOLDED display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 pixel. This Smartphone with 5 inch display makes watching videos and playing 3D games an amazing experience. Whereas, iPhone 5 has a slightly smaller display, which has a screen size of 4 inch with a resolution of 1136x640 pixels. Although, it delivers a natural and clear picture quality, Galaxy S4 has a better display with magnificent contrast and saturated colours. The viewing angles of iPhone 5 seem to be better than S4 and also have a brighter outdoor display that gets darker, making it apt for using at night.

Interface and Functionality
When it comes to interface and functionality, it becomes a little hard to compare as both are built in different platforms. The operating system on which S4 runs is Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and iPhone 5 runs on the latest iOS 6. S4 runs on Samsung’s TouchWiz Nature interface, which customizes the entire experience and adds numerous distinctive features like Smart Stay, Dual Shot, Air View and lots more of which some of them are useful and others are not. Android, as we all know is feature rich and works seamlessly. Whereas, Apple iOS is easy to use and has a more user-friendly interface as well as simple for a person to use who is not very tech-savvy. However, for someone who is tech savy and wants a lot of software on their phones and other electronic devices, Android is the perfect one.

The RAM of this phone is 2 GB, which is amazing and allows the phone to work seamlessly. While, iPhone 5 is not loaded with as much features and specs as S4 and is powered by dual-core 1.3 GHz A6 processor with 1 GB RAM. Both S4 and iPhone 5 comes in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB internal memory, respectively. However, the internal memory of S4 can be further increased by installing a micro SD card, whereas iPhone 5 lacks on this.

Internet and Connectivity
Smartphones are popular for making internet accessible through phones and both these phones supports 4 G LTE network along with HSPA+ with downlink speeds of up to 42.2 Mbit/s down. Both the phone supports Bluetooth 4.0, by S4 has an IR blaster, which allows the handset to be used as a remote control for your television.

Camera and Multimedia
Camera has been a major attracting feature of phone today and both the phones offer amazing camera. The S4 sports a 13 MP camera on the rear and a 2 MP camera on the front, whereas iPhone 5 has an 8 MP iShight camera on the rear. Both the phones have amazing features that makes clicking pictures a splendid experience. However, the camera of S4 rules over the camera of iPhone 5

Conclusion
The rest of the features of both the phones cannot be compared as they are unique in their own ways. Samsung Galaxy S4 charms its fans with its advanced features and is perfect for the tech-savvy Geeks who are fond of phones that are overloaded with features and the iPhone 5 is good enough if you want a classy and user-friendly interface.

Which Smartphone according to you is a better one, Apple’s iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S4?

Indian culture is certainly great to bestow us the wonderful values which quickly mark us out among the crowd. infact just by observing the way of behavior and gestures anyone can make out that we belong to India and we are Indians :) we have so many amazing gestures to show our gratitude, concern, affection and hospitality and that's what we call as great Indian values. We say 'Namaste' to greet others, we touch the feet of elders to show our respect, we do charity to help others and try to console others in their sorrow. But the Indian youth is foremost to forget these beautiful gestures of values. Now Namaste has turned into Hi/Yoo/Hi Dude.. Touching the feet seem to be old fashioned now, charity is of no use for them and own satisfaction is more important than of others'. This is not a good indication because if Indian youth would behave like aliens with their own culture then what to say about others?
