Giving birth to a new baby requires high pertinacious food. Indian poor women can't even afford money for their health even to survive, then how possibly they can afford high quality food to keep herself and infant's health in proper condition. Not only in India, all developing and undeveloped countries face same ratio when compared to European countries.
