Default Mercy Killing - Should It Be Legalized in India ?

Mercy killing is nothing but the practice of killing a person or animal,in a painless or minimally painful way, for merciful reasons, usually to end suffering of a patient before death. In wider sense it depicts assisting sufferers to commit sudden death rather than suffering from long,in particular physician-assisted suicide.

Life is a precious gift of god, and even a life of pain is a life at least. Some people feel we don’t choose when to be born and we should not be given the right to choose when to die. On the contrary, others feel that a life of pain is not a life but an imposition and we should be at least allowed to end it in a dignified peaceful manner.

I strongly feel that mercy killing should be legalized in India. Because there are some pains in our life which are intolerable, it may be a physical or mental illness which can't be cured. Instead of suffering from Severe pains, and in case the person cannot find any solutions for his pain....then its better to go for mercy killing..

The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the mercy killing petition of Aruna Shanbaug, who has been in a vegetative state for 37 years. According to me Aruna Shaunbag’s case deserves mercy killing considering her status for prolonged time.

Are you satisfied with the Supreme Court ruling against mercy killing for Aruna Shanbaug? Should euthanasia be legal in India?

I think mercy killing should be allowed in special cases like Aruna Shanbaug. She's been suffering for 37 years and there is no justice with her case and no one knows for how long time she will continue.

    Default mercy killing

Aruna's petition of mercy killing was dismissed by the Supreme Court. in some cases, like Aruna, it should be allow but if a decision of legalizing the mercy killing come then there might be misuse of this verdict. people might be create 'horrible situations' for their relatives/others for want of fulfill their vested interest. it is time to think Are really we have become 'mature' to take decision on 'Mercy Killing'?

in my view yes mercy killing should be legalized in india as i think it is upto the subject to continue life further or end it for some reasons as the person may be subjected to high distress due to diseased state or some other reason.. it is upto us to relieve him or her from the pain.

In my view mercy killing should be legalized in India. It is a pain to see people suffering from ailments which are incurable. People suffer every minute and every second both mentally as well as physically. The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the mercy killing petition of Aruna Shanbaug, who has been in unconsciousness state for 37 years. I personally believe that her petition should be accepted bearing in mind her lingering oblivion state.
