the most irksome thing which i found about women on television is that they keep weeping all the time. all the television soaps show women weeping most of the times for some reason. secondly, they are so fine dressed up, that even a lady from hamlet looks like a model. this is something which cannot be digested and is way away from being down to earth.

The image of women have been deteriorated on Indian television. They show women either as a vamp or a very dumb character that does not have brains. This is completely wrong and I am not at all agree to this image. This is not the real face of indian woman. Indian woman has come far way from the image of bhartiya nari . she is more modern now but keeping her tradition in her mind, she is no more a fool and working in the society just like any men. So the image that these serials portray is completely wrong.

Yes, Even my family is prone to watching television shows like Balika wadhu, sajan bina sasural and sasural gainda fool They are so much engrossed in the serials that they even forget the cooking part and other things. I sometimes literally have to shout on my mom to serve food The portrayal of indian woman is not the same as they show on television.

Women are portrayed as a vamp usually on the television. This damages the image of indian women as a whole. Indian women is the figure of sacrifice and hard work as well as patience but on television there are various serials that portrays all bad character about her. This should not be done as it is kind of a black spot on the image of indian women.

Portrayal of women on television is indeed becoming worse as they are shown as vamp. but still there are few serials that are making sense and showing the reality of the rural areas such as TV Serial that comes on Colors named balika vadhu. As far as TRP is concerned Balika Vadhu is still the best. This is because this serial has almost all the best characters. You can actually identify with them and you will feel as if you are one part of the serial. It is truly a great thing to watch this show.

While some serials do not show a lot of deviant picture of indian women than actuality, some of the soaps and serials give an over dose which is far from the realities of indian women. Coming to the movies and music videos, women are shown with more vulgarity which has damaging effect on children and youth, changing their way of perception as a whole. I think the censor board must keep a watch on the vulgarities and ask the media people to follow some ethics because our country is not like the west.
