Default Does education help reduce gender discrimination?

We can see discrimination on the basis of gender in all walks of life. Even when it comes to adoption, baby boys get preference. Although of late there has been a welcome change in this mindset, a lot more needs to be done.

education is the best weapon against gender discrimination. So lets start a campaign to make the people understand the advantage of being educated. If everyone of us can teach a single person..........then its gonna be right foot forward!!! Educated INDIA........Better INDIA!!!!!

I know the general opinion that the male gender is always preference. But education has changed the opinion. Now disparity is being reducing day by day.

Not always. It depends upon the circumstances so far as adoption is concerned. One has to take a round of orphanages to be able to say about it with authenticity.

Why do women always think for women and blame men for everything? Is it not gender bias?

Being impartial is difficult but necessary.

To an extent, yes. A family brings up a daughter without any bias and prejudice but the society is not willing to accept a woman at par with the male counterpart. It will take some time for the mindset to change.

yes education can do .but proper education .means qualitative education.where the people can get knowledge regarding the moral values of life rather than the material education.material education make people greedy or lure.that's why the society give more preference to boys rather than girl.some expectation is there from boys.as girls can not be always with them.

I don't think that education can help to reduce gender discrimination, for a simple reason that even educated people do discriminate on the basis of gender. After so much of transformation and awareness in society still people prefer for baby boy in family. In educated families also women have to sacrifice their carriers for their in-laws families only because they are women and have to look after home and children after marriage .All other things are secondary for her after marriage...even educated men will not compromise on this and sit at home allowing his wife to work even if she earns more then him.In our constitution equal rights are given to men and women but unless and until mentality of Men dominated society is not changed this discrimination will not end.

    Thumbs up

Even in a predominently male dominated society.... an educated women is always respected anf followed, its just because of education that today we have female icons like Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Indira Nooyi etc. Even in the past the educated women 'vidushi' were looked upon by the society....................

Angry No, its failing to reduce it!!!

Education is supposed to open our minds and thoughts but, unfortunately it is failing to do so. Even while reading in the same class a boy and girl recieve biased education. The discrepency can be seen in the results describing the varience in performance.
