how to empower women in india ?
Chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan has said that the government of Maharashtra will introduce a legislation mandating 50 % electoral seats for women in all local self-government bodies which includes all from municipal corporations to gram panchayats. The Bill will be introduced in the forthcoming budget session. At present Maharashtra already has a 30 % reservation for women. Total 27 municipal and gram panchayat elections are slated for 2011-12 in the state, including the most crucial one to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation which will be held in February 2012. Notably, the Women's Reservation Bill proposing 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament is still in the pipeline.
What do you Proud Indians say? Any one out there who has any bright ideas on how to empower women in India ? Indian Women Need Education , Sense of security and Equal Rights or just Reservation in Indian politics ?

empowering women in India
The girl child has to be encouraged to work hard to get good education. Without education there is no life. Mentorship programmes should be enhance to enlighten the girl child at an early age. Let the stereotype mentality be discarded and let us enhance change.

reservation is just one of the ways to pave way for women to become empowered. they should be given more importance by the fellow men who work with them. most of the times it so happens that women's work is undermined and not given importance. they are kept away from making any progress just because they are women and this attitude needs to be changed.

I think everyone should encourage women to pursue their educational goals. An education is one of the few things that can never be taken away from any woman because education provides option that they may not have had before and opens doors for career and sustainability. I personally take active participation in woman empowerment, as a community service through my company. Many leading organizations like Microsoft India has developed programs with the help of community centre and provides basic IT skills such as introduction to computers, word processing, spreadsheets and the Internet that help them to educate and grow in all areas of education.

To me, education is considered as the best way to empower women. Education open the minds of people and their thinking, it gives boost to their thinking power and removes conservative thinking. education is very important for women and girls whoa re living in slums. It is the responsibility of parents and govt as well to provide education to those girls who cannot afford to study.

Education is indeed the best tool to empower women. Today women are no way less than to men in all ways in fact they have the capability to earn more than what men earns. They can do all those things that a man can do. It is very important to give right education to women to empower them and their thinking and to broaden their minds.

well, education is an important aspect of empowering indian women along with that a training based on several things such as cooking, handicrafts, textile designing, fashion designing, interior designing are also important as it gives a boost to the confidence of women across the country and they find it easy to survive in this world in case something wrong happens to them. They do not feel handicapped if they are self dependent at time of need.

Educating the right way to both girl as well as boy is the best way to empower women. women these days especially from rural area want to do something for themselves but due to the home atmosphere which is very rigid and orthodox they are unable to take any step out. So, by giving proper education this can be easily removed and women empowerment can be done.

Government Schemes For Women Empowerment: Indian Government has implemented 'Dhanalakshmi', an incentive scheme for girl child's birth, initiatives like Support to Training and Employment Program for Women (STEP), MGNREGA, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), even loans through Rashtriya Mahila Kosh for letting women to take their decisions regarding children birth, their spacing, to retain a girl child, plus improving their nutritional cum educational status.

First and the foremost thing that needs to be done is Education of the girl child. Many girl children in the rural parts of our country do not get adequate education (not even higher secondary pass) and this is why, even if women are given special privileges they cannot handle them much effectively.
