Cities in India are complaining about water shortage. In the list of 122 countries rated on quality of portable water, India ranks a lowly 120. Although India has 4% of the world’s water, studies show average availability is shrinking steadily. It is estimated that by 2020, India will become a water-stressed nation.

The crisis of water has emerged as a menace in large and densely populated cities. People are facing shortage of water due to inadequate underground water levels and also due to excess water wastage by the industries located in and around the cities. People and Municipal authorities should tackle this problem by undertaking better water management techniques and follow water conservation.

The problem of water is increasing as the day passes. The issues of water concern are neglected by the government and the usage of RO should be banned as it waste a lot of water. When water is purified by RO, say 1 liter water actually wastes 25 liters of water daily. If you fill 5 bottles to keep in your fridge you can make out how much water gets wasted.

The problem is in a much larger scenario, than what we think. Merely filling out bottles properly in our fridge wont solve the problem. We should catch hold of municipal authorities who waste lot of water in just transportation. Even companies must be explained to use water wisely because they render the water toxic which cannot be reused.

Water scarcity is indeed a broader issue. The scarcity is being faced across the world and not just India. But since we are a developing nation, the demand for fresh water would definitely increase. Therefore we should start looking for alternative and reliable methods to store and conserve water to save this element in future to exist

Water crisis is a now a burning problem especially in the big cities. It is mainly due to the migration of people to big cities in search of jobs and other opportunities for earning livelihood. Increase in population will increase the demand for water too as it is need to sustain life. Migration to big cities cannot be controlled as it is an enshrined right however, alternative methods to conserve, store and preserve water should be employed in an effective way.
