In India, the last three years have seen hazardous waste import which increased by 48%. In the year of 2006, 6.4 million tons of hazardous waste came from the west to India and 5.9 million tons were produced domestically. Most of the waste was from metal, plastics and electronics. The brass import increased by 60% and Battery waste import doubled.

Waste management in India is lacking the advanced technological involvement which makes the process of waste material's disposal and treatment facilities a little lesser efficient. India should employ better technology to manage waste that is produced within the country and stop bringing in the waste from other countries. Many shipping companies illegally bring the waste to our country for monetary gains. Govt. must put on a strong vigil on such activities.

India's Tragic Waste Management: In 2009 around 6.9 million tones hazardous wastes came to India from west, whereas 5.9 million tones were produced domestically. Most of such wastes include plastics, electronics and metal which may cause serious environmental damage. Majority of Indian Ports don't have radiation-scanning technology as well.

India seriously lacks waste management techniques. If one takes a look at the municipal laborers who come to collect waste from domestic houses, they are given no hand gloves nor any face mask to maintain any sanity or cleanliness. This is one of the reasons why they become prey to so many diseases. Indian government must understand that even they are humans and should provide them with good body protection accessories.

This seems to be quite sad. We should respect every human. I have seen how in foreign countries the trash is collected. The collectors wear full suits and hand gloves to protect themselves from the invasive and harmful germs. In india we don't encourage such a thing because most of the people are unaware of such facts and we are lazy to implement such innovative ideas even if we are aware of them.
