Languages of Maharashtra
The state has Marathi as the official language and it is reported to be the mother tongue of about 68.9% of the Maharashtra population. There are other languages spoken as well, with next major language of use being Hindi and then English. There are other languages like Urdu, Gujarati, Kannad, and Tamil also, but are spoken by very little percentage of people. The state has witnessed many issues with political parties asking to make Marathi language mandatory as they feel that Hindi speaking people are dominating the state.

Main languages of Maharashtra are Marathi, Hindi and English. Marathis and Hindi are mostly understood by all over the state. But different regions have their own dialects. English is applicable in urban areas. Konkani is also spoken in some areas of Maharashtra.
