well i think media can only run advertisement campaigns to create awareness about the harmful effects of smoking. but what i think is that the media should take a new approach. they should focus less on showing the health risks of smoking since most smokers are already aware of that. instead the media should focus on showing the negative impact which smoking can have on the society, on the smoker's family, and other negative points.

What do your feel the media can do to help curb tobacco use?
Media is like a family member of every Indian family. Today mostly people have radios and television in their house and they really feel connected with media as they are the only source for a common man to learn about the developments happening in nation. Media has immense power to mold and educate people. The radio and TV especially have more power as they can even educate illiterate people as well. Hence, media should run campaign against the use of tobacco, by educating people about its harmful effect. They should ask all big and powerful people to support their campaign by all means. This will surely hit the heart and mind of people, and therefore if not 100% then to some extent it will surely succeed.

well media can do a lot to help the smokers give up nicotine. people these days are more influenced by television and thus if media comes with such ideas of telecasting prospects and advantages of curbing tobacco use, many would really give up. using a celebrity to influence would be more apt as people usually follow them blindly

tobacco use is becoming more and more prevalent in modern cities. some of the youngsters find it funky to use it by seeing some of the celebrities doing so on the television. if the same celebs advice on ill effects of use of tobacco and urge people to give away smoking, there would be greater impact on the issue
