India is a democratic Country
Democracy is a form of Government which is very popular and also considered as one the most effective forms. In this form of Government, the majority of decisions are taken by the representatives that are chosen by the people. India follows the democratic type pf Government.
India is a big country and hence needs to be governed in a proper and an effective way. The representatives chosen by the people are the ones who take major decisions pertaining to the development of the country. Democracy is the best kind of government because one has lot of benefits.
India is truly democratic since one enjoys freedom of speech and expression here. Here people can voice their opinions openly and straight. In a way democracy makes sure that equality is maintained. In India all the citizens are treated equally and have the same set of rights as the others. By true definition democracy does not differentiate on the basis of religion, colour, caste and creed.
However, there have been instances when the term democracy has been misused. The main reason for this being ignorance. The government which runs the country is chosen by the people, for the people. The elected members then serve for duration of 5 years.
Though India is democratic country, today the definition of the same has changed to a certain extent, mainly due to the ignorance and unawareness of the masses. Illiteracy is one reason for this. What we need to thoroughly understand is that democracy lets us use our freedom and we as citizens have to make sure that we use it in a constructive way which will help in the development and progress of the country.
India proudly talks of being democratic but citizens should take special care to see that the term democracy is not misunderstood and misinterpreted.

India is a very large democratic nation with huge population. the people of india enjoy freedom of speech and expression. we have large written constitution. though we have such richness in governance, we still are lagging behind in awareness and literacy due to which our democracy is not being enjoyed optimally by the people. there needs to be more awareness on issues and laws.. what do you think??

But after considering the situations of these present politicians, I think we're far away from a democracy!

India is indeed a democratic country but do we actually know the meaning of democracy? We don't actually! Democracy means when people are given full right to develop themselves in to the civilized human being and following their rights and duties in the right way. Government and other officials are there to protect their rights and liberties so that they can have complete freedom to do what they want. But I guess the meaning of democracy has completely changed these days from a democratic country to it has become a corrupted country.

Indeed brother! Democracy is the reason why India could come so far without getting to hands of any evil/corrupt person. Though there is rampant corruption in system we can still live, speak, move about freely and expect justice from Indian judiciary because India is a democratic country! However, i cannot deny the fact that there are flaws in the current system but we Indians should be proud of the fact that India is the largest democratic country in the world! Cherish it and live by it!

India is the world's largest democracy with the largest written constitution. The conception of democracy provides a government which is "of the people, for the people and by the people". However, this conception is seemed to have lost its essence and is just confined in the books. Undoubtedly, because of this democracy the citizens have been provided certain rights and freedom but, the present political system has put a question mark on the meaning of the word democracy.
