i agree with sweetangel. Football should be encouraged as it is no less popular than cricket which is not an indian game. When we cannot encourage hockey or is ot so popular in india after being an indian game then at least we can make and take the initiative to at least encourage the game which is more popular than cricket around the world. Football should indeed be encouraged!

Definitely football should be encouraged. Football is having much popular fan following than cricket, and it is considered as a very interesting game when compared to cricket, where we find match fixings and all bull shits every now and then. Young sportsmen should realize football is a better game to practice than cricket. We all know Dhoni was used to be a goal keeper before and later he shuffled to cricket and now he's making pages in cricket history. Such a spark should rise in young India.

The days of cricket are going to over very soon. People are very interested and keen to play football in their free time. The government should encourage football players from village level to national level players. Publicity should be developed and done on football matches, which creates interests for youngsters to pick football as their game.

Football is encouraged by the schools and the government these days as it has been overtaken by the game called cricket. people, especially youngsters are more interested in playing cricket for their country as this game is the most popular game around the world. This game gives name, fame and money at its best. So, according to me this game should be highly encouraged by everyone.

It's a very good comment and point mentioned by khushboo. Football should be encouraged by government especially for the school kids. Now a days kids show a lot of interest towards football but they divert their minds to cricket as it can give them a guaranteed food. Whereas football is like throwing stone for a fruit hanging on tree. If government succeeds in giving a small push to school kids then there is no doubt that football will become the next popular sport in india.

Football is encouraged in eastern states a lot in India. Even in metropolitan cities football is very much encouraged. That encouragement should deepens towards village and town level players only then football can earn a respect like cricket.

@khushboo: I agree that football is encouraged in eastern states in india but apart from this there are many other games that should be encouraged as well. Football is a force to be reckoned with in the political arena. With the Palestinian national side recently playing their first ‘home’ game, I felt it was an apt time to examine how influential the beautiful game can be. I agree with the saying that football should be encouraged.

Yes, we can find many of youngsters crazy about football and love to play it instead of cricket which i think is over hyped game. Eastern states are completely involved in football whereas we can find this game played in other parts of India too. The only reason it is not getting attention of sports lovers is that we do not have our team qualified even once for FIFA.

football should definitely be encouraged as it is one of the most famous games that people play around the world. It is an international game and must be encouraged by the government of india apart from games such as Cricket which does not need any more encouragement. Cricket is indeed popular so extra effort and attention should be given to various other games such as football.
